Home Harvest® Garden Supply was founded in November, 1988 to provide hobby growers and serious gardeners environmentally responsible products recommended by mainstream and alternative gardening publications and editors, but rarely found in local hardware stores or nurseries. Our product line includes: organic soil amendments for the revitalization of our soil; natural pest controls and predators to minimize our exposure to, and ingestion of, potentially dangerous chemicals; organic fertilizers that dont poison our rivers and groundwater; intensive cultivation products like hydroponics and drip irrigation that maximize production while minimizing water use; high-intensity discharge garden lamps that produce over five times more light per watt of energy than incandescent grow lights; nursery pots made of biodegradable and/or recyclable material, to name a few. Our mission is to offer you the highest quality products on the market that are environmentally safe AND effective and to make them available to you at the lowest possible prices. To help steer community earth towards the paperless society computers promised years ago, we have decided to discontinue printing our paper catalog in favor of the Internet. No more wasted paper; no need for snail mail lists; no printing, sorting and mailing expenses; always up to date; new products year round; happier postal service workers... well, you get the picture. You wont find a lot of decorative, ornamental or landscaping type stuff. We are a production-oriented supplier, primarily working with small-scale vegetable, fruit and flower growers. Intensive small space, greenhouse, indoor and container gardening are our specialty. We also cater to bonsai, orchid, cactus and African violet growers. Rest assured, though, that ALL caretakers of plants are welcome at Home Harvest® Garden Supply! We are proud of the reputation we have established over the last decade as consultants to the garden industry, corporations, and as a supportive resource to students and educators involved in environmental experiments. Not only do we count hundreds of grade schools, colleges and universities as clients, we have worked with countless students on science projects relating to hydroponics, artificial lighting, erosion and other similar subjects. Many of these students have secured recognition in local science fairs, and a number have advanced to state and national championships. We have also worked closely with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC to further their educational efforts concerning hydroponics, and have assisted in the design and implementation of the hydroponic system in the National Air & Space Museums former exhibit called Where Next, Columbus?, which was operational for a full twelve years during the late 80s and 1990s.
