Ameri Glas was started in 1989 by four stained glass crafters in Omaha, Nebraska. Although Omaha is a medium-sized midwestern town which serves an area of 1,000,000 people, we found that there were very few stained glass stores. Also, the few stores which did exist, were custom stained glass shops which sold tools and supplies only as a side venture. There were only a couple real stores in town and they had an extremely limited selection and high prices. After talking with friends across the country, we found that the situation was similar in many areas. Even in very large cities, we found that there were still only a few stores and they were usually many miles across town.
